Kudos! I & B Minister Smriti Irani Swings Into Action Against Pehredaar Piya Ki
I & B Ministry headed by Smriti Irani has come down on Sony's controversial show Pehredaar Piya Ki. The show's content is definitely objectionable
Sony's controversial offering Pehredaar Piya Ki, which
brings to the audience the atrocious story of a 9-year-old boy (Afaan Khan)
getting married to an 18-year-old girl (Tejaswi, is finally and truly at the
receiving end.
The recent episodes that highlighted the suhaag raat and
how the young kid enjoys filling his wife’s forehead with sindoor have shocked
the nation no end. The cringe-worthy scenes caused a public outcry and a
petition was filed against Pehredaar Kiya Ki demanding a ban on the show.

Addressed to the I & B Minister Smriti Irani (who is
also Minister for Textlies) , the petition filed by a certain Mansi Ja, states,
“Pehredar Piya Ki. A 10-year-old impressionable little kid(“piyaa”) caressing
and stalking a lady who’s more than double his age and filling sindoor in her
“maang” is being telecast at prime time 8:30pm on Sony. (Family time)
It is to be devoured by the entire Nation. Imagine the kind of influence it
will steadily and perpetually infuse in the viewers mindset. We want a ban on
the serial. We do not want our kids to be influenced by such TV serials. Join
us in signing the petition to ban this serial.”
We love ministers who take prompt action and know their
job well, and Smriti Irani is definitely one such.

SpotboyE.com has it that the I & B Ministry has written to the BCCC
(Broadcasting Content Complaints Council- the self-regulatory mechanism for GEC
content) to take up the matter.Sources close to the government say that a
letter to this effect has been been dispatched, asking for immediate action on
priority basis.
The BCCC will now have to take cognisance, respond and
take action.
Producers of Pehredaar Piya Ki, Shashi & Sumeet
Mittal, are unarguably in serious trouble.

We can't help but remember the laughable interview that
Afaan Khan's father had given to us a few days ago, where he said things like:
1. I am simply looking at Afaan's future. Pehredaar Piya Ki is giving him
film offers.
2. Many people are praising Afaan saying that he looks cute and he's doing
well.
3. We are not doing it for money. Afaan is just playing a character.
4. I am not bothered and
worried about the reaction that Pehredaar Piya Ki is getting.
